India Rules Ayurvedic Products are Medicines, Not Cosmetics

In a controversy stemming from tarrifs, not safety, Cosmetics & Toiletries Magazine reports that in case filed by a manufacturer of ayurvedic products, a New Delhi court ruled that products containing medicinal content and aimed at curing certain ailments would be classified as medicaments and not cosmetics. This ruling is significant for the Indian supplement market because cosmetics are taxed there while medicaments are not.
