Project On Emerging Nanotechnologies: 11 Supplements Listed in Inventory of Nanotechnology Consumer Products

Newlogo-webThe Project On Emerging Nanotechnologies was established in April 2005 as a partnership between the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Pew Charitable Trusts. The Project is dedicated to helping ensure that as nanotechnologies advance, possible risks are minimized, public and consumer engagement remains strong, and the potential benefits of these new technologies are realized.

The Project's website promises to be an excellent resource for issues regarding the commercialization of nanotech consumer products, including supplements. In fact, in a press release the Project just announced the debut of its Inventory of Nanotechnology Consumer Products. Interestingly, the Inventory lists 11 different dietary and nutritional supplements.

As the project notes, "although focused on the very small, nanotechnologies offer tremendous potential benefits." In fact, in the field of supplements, I know that the inventory is already incomplete as there are many supplement products that incorporate nanotechnology that are not listed in the Inventory, e.g. many colloidal silver supplement products including Sovereign Silver made by the South Florida company Natural Immunogenics.
